Introducing Hanney Chapel

Hanney ChapelHanney Chapel was erected in 1862 by the Frilford and Longworth Home Mission. In 1910 a Mr Henry Broughton was the preacher and at that time it was known locally as Broughton's Chapel. The chapel closed down for a period between the wars and then opened again in 1943.

It exists to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ to the people of Hanney and the surrounding area, and as a place of worship for people to meet together and worship God.

Those who meet at Hanney Chapel are part of the Abbey Baptist Church – a group of local people of all ages and backgrounds who have begun this new relationship with Christ. We are trying to live our lives so as to express our thanks and please God. We still have a long way to go….

Which is why we meet together regularly to encourage one another, to worship God and to learn more of what His Bible teaches. Our meetings are conducted in quite a simple way, and with a friendly atmosphere – why don’t you come and see?

We provide refreshments after most meetings and you would be most welcome.

“Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works on man's behalf!” Psalm 66: 5
