Welcome to Hanney Chapel |
Hanney Chapel was erected in 1862 by the Frilford and Longworth Home Mission. In 1910 a Mr Henry Broughton was the preacher and at that time it was known locally as Broughton's Chapel. The chapel closed down for a period between the wars and then opened again in 1943.
During the last decade or so the Fellowship at Hanney has been part of the Abbey Baptist Church (Checker Walk, Abingdon). It has now grown in numbers such that on the 15th January 2012 Hanney Chapel became an independant church and now holds both morning and evening services each Sunday.
It exists to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ to the people of Hanney and the surrounding area, and as a place of worship for people to meet together and worship God.
Those who meet at Hanney Chapel form a group of local people of all ages and backgrounds who have begun this new relationship with Christ. We are trying to live our lives so as to express our thanks to God and to please Him. We still have a long way to go….
Which is why we meet together regularly to encourage one another, to worship God and to learn more of what His Bible teaches. Our meetings are conducted in quite a simple way, and with a friendly atmosphere – why don’t you come and see?
We provide refreshments after most meetings and you would be most welcome.
