On Sundays

We meet at Hanney Chapel every Sunday morning at 10:30am. During the service a crèche is available and the Explorers Sunday-school is held for 4 to 6 and 7 to 11 year olds. Services are also held each Sunday evening at 5:30pm and after the evening service Bible Class for the 11 plus takes place (roughly fortnightly).

All of these meetings are open to everyone and suitable for all ages. All of them are designed to bring relevant Bible teaching and an opportunity to worship God together. The church Bibles that are generally used are the English Standard Version (ESV) and we sing from New Christian Hymns or have other songs projected on screen.

The format of each service is flexible but typically has notices, an opening hymn, a childrens talk, 2nd hymn (after which in the morning service the children can go to crèche, or the Explorers Sunday School), a Bible reading, prayer, 3rd hymn, sermon, final hymn and benediction. Overall, each service lasts about an hour and a quarter. We would normally sit throughout the meeting except for the hymns and the benediction. We do not take up an offering during the service.

Generally on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month we celebrate The Lord's Supper. See our Basis of Faith for this but our practice is that this ordinance is for the Lord's people, those who have been born again of God's Spirit, who are trusting in the death of Jesus Christ as their sole means of obtaining God's forgiveness and are seeking to live a God-glorifying life. We believe the normal biblical order to be conversion, baptism, commitment to the membership of a local fellowship, and then the privileges of church membership, one of which is the Lord's Supper. If you are a visitor from another fellowship where you participate in the Lord's Supper, and if you are walking in fellowship with the Lord and with His people, then we invite you to remember with us the death of our Lord in His appointed way.

An induction loop is available for those hard of hearing. An induction loop system is operated for those hard-of-hearing. Hearing aids should be switched to the "T" or telephone position.

During the Week

On Wednesdays at 7:30pm we meet for Bible Study and Prayer. The 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month are held at the Chapel, the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays in members homes (or as announced). Any 5th Wednesday tends to be a meeting with a visiting speaker or a Church Members Business meeting.

Except for August, on the 1st Thursday of each month at 10:30am there is a Coffee Morning. This is held in the chapel, is open to all and offers a time of informal fellowship and includes a brief christian talk.

On the 1st Saturday of each month at 8:30am there is a Men's Breakfast. This is held in the chapel, is open to all men and offers a time of informal fellowship as well as a 'full English'.
